LOOK OH SO CHIC IN BOHO CHIC!

Ah, the joys of dressing boho chic! The clothes are magical, whimsical and conjure up images of free spirited fashion power! 1960s, 1970s and 1980s throwbacks!

Boho chic is a style of fashion drawing on various bohemian and hippie influences, which in the year 2005 was associated with actress Sienna Miller and model Kate Moss. Boho chic garments give off a gypsy vibe, flowery, flowing and easy to move in. Many elements of the boho chic look became popular in the late 1960s.

Boho Chic Fun Fact: Boho is an abbreviation of the word bohemian. The original Bohemians were travelers and refugees from Central Europe. The French word Bohemien translates to “Gypsy or Roma people.” Chic was borrowed from the French in the late 19th century to mean stylish or elegant.

The boho look, which owes much of its fashion to the hippie styles that developed in the late 1960s, became popular after Sienna Miller’s appearance at the Glastonbury Festival in 2004. The postal district of W10 (North Kensington) is an area of London associated with Bohemian culture since the mid-1950s.

Boho Fun Fact: In advance of Glastonbury 2004, the Sunday Times coined the term “festival chic” for a style with similarities to boho. The Telegraph coined the term “foho” to describe the evolution of the boho style in the summer 2007. The foho is said to have taken its influence from both boho style and the heavy influence of folk culture.

Oh, dress in a mix of boho and foho for fabulous fashion elegance!

Boho chic can consist of flowery bell bottoms, loose skirts, short skirts, heavy jewelry, flowing garments and flowing tresses. Floppy hats, tassels and lace also decorate the boho look.

Look oh so chic in boho chic!

Boho Chic Shoe Fashion Tip: Boho chic is one look where flat shoes do the outfit justice. I normally prefer high heels (the higher the better) but flats, sandals and tennis shoes can pull a boho chic outfit together. I also think boho skirts and bell bottom pants are fabulously complemented by darling ankle boots! If you’re up to it, loose fitting boho dresses look absolutely gorgeous with just a bare foot (polished toes and an ankle bracelet helps)!

Boho chic can very much resemble the vintage look. Think actress Zooey Deschanel, who in June 2008 appeared on the front cover of BlackBook magazine in a black lace-edged swimsuit looking like a graceful version of boho chic.

Boho chick gives off a vibe of cool, elegant, graceful sophistication mixed with a free-spirited, gypsy lifestyle image.

Flirty, fashionable, confident and chic all rolled into one!

Boho chic is sometimes referred to as “hippie chic”, a term used in the 1990s with references to the velvet kraftans created by Tom Ford for the Italian house of Gucci. Fashion Union marketed “hippie chic” tops in 2010.

Remember the peasant blouse? Oh, such a perfect garment, great for putting together a boho chic look.

Boho chic is a youthful, playful yet high fashion ensemble!

Boho chic clothing emits a romantic, beat to your own drum mode of fashion! For all fashion divas, dare to find your own unique brand of boho chic!

A stylish, superb way to accessorize with the boho chic look is lots of long, dangling neck jewelry (beads, chains, etc.), headbands and hair ornaments, and large tote and shoulder handbags.

The more tassels and the more fringe, the more your boho chic look wins!

If you really want to spice up your boho chic vibe in the air, wear a headband of flowers in your hair!

“I want to look knock-out unique at the party tonight.”

“Then dress boho chic for a look that’s just right.”

“I’ll stand out in the crowd with a blend of high fashion and chic.”

“A mix of beatnik and hippie with a layer of sexy yet sweet.”

“I think I’ll wear a flowing, loose fitting short dress and a floppy hat.”

“Add lots of bling, sheer fabric and boots for a look that’s all that!”

Boho chic for a look that is classy, chic and oh so sweet!
