Do you sometimes feel bored with your wardrobe and yearn for a minor change that is simple to achieve yet screams trendy, hip, cool? I have the easy answer. Step out on the town wearing the one earring wonder.
In order to achieve this dramatic look and the chic connotation that it conveys, the one earring needs to be large, long and very noticeable. Although the one stud earring is fashionable, it doesn’t convey the same image as decorating only one ear with a super stand out earring!
An earring is a piece of jewelry attached to the ear via a piercing in the earlobe or another external part of the ear, or is clipped onto the earlobe. Earrings are won by both sexes, although are more common among women, and have been used by different civilizations in different times.
Earrings are pretty, fun, ornamental pieces of jewelry. Earring components may be made from a number of materials, including metal, plastic, glass, precious stone, beads, wood, bone and other materials.
Generally, earrings work much like shoes. Two ears – each ear adorned with the same matching earring (a pair of earrings). With shoes, two feet, so most people wear a matching shoe on the right and left foot (pair of shoes). Now, to stir up this concept and wear only one of the two items, be it one gorgeous earring decorating only one ear, creates a look that is funky, hip and trendy. I’m not so sure the same look would be conveyed with only wearing one shoe, and keeping the other foot barefoot. But, this is fashion, so hey, who am I to judge someone else’s idea of fashion fun?
The ear is the organ of hearing and has three parts – the outer ear, middle ear and inner ear. And, as humans have done with virtually every outer part of the body, the ear is visually enhanced when adorned in elegant, glamorous earrings. The ear has been decorated by earrings and other jewelry in numerous cultures for thousands of years, and has been subjected to surgical and cosmetic alterations. Hence, the earring!
Earring Fun Fact: For those who prefer pierced ears, the simple term “ear piercing” refers to an earlobe piercing, whereas piercings in the upper part of the external ear are often referred to as “cartilage piercings.” Cartilage piercings are more complex to perform than earlobe piercings and take longer to heal.
Trending and teasing with the one earring wonder!
Ear piercing is one of the oldest known forms of body modification, with artistic and written references from cultures around the world dating back to early history. Early evidence of earrings worn by men can be seen in archeological evidence from Persepolis in ancient Persia. The carved images of soldiers of the Persian Empire, displayed on some of the surviving walls of the palace, show them wearing an earring.
Oh baby, baby, baby, what’s it gonna’ be? One earring, two earrings, how about three? Create your own signature style and flair with the amount of earrings you choose to wear!
One Earring Fashion Tip: When only wearing one earring, it looks especially pleasing and pretty to highlight the earring by putting your hair up or tucked behind the ear that is adorned with the earring, and leaving the empty ear covered with hair.
One Earring Not So Fun Fact: People might tell you that you lost an earring, or that your earring has fallen off! Merely smile, or tell them…

Earring Ear Candy – Downright Dandy!
Earring Fun Fact: In India, nearly all Hindu girls and some boys get their ears pierced in the religious ceremony known as Kharnavedha before they are five years old. Infants may get their ears pierced as early as several days after their birth. Similar customs are practiced in other Asian countries and Spanish countries, including Nepal, Sri Lanka, Spain and Mexico.
Ear Piercing Fun Fact: Multiple piercings in one or both ears first emerged in mainstream America in the 1970s. Asymmetric styles with more and more piercings became popular, eventually leading to the cartilage piercing trend. Double ear piercing in newborn babies is a phenomenon in Central America, in particular Costa Rica.
Yes, double piercings and numerous earrings adorning the ears makes for a fashionable, festive look, but I still feel the long, dangling one earring wonder creates a luscious, lovely image!
Wearing only one earring on one ear: My ears have never heard anything but good things about it!
“Excuse me miss, but it seems that one of your earrings has fallen off and gotten lost.”
“Perhaps it fell on the floor, or it is laying on the ground outside the door.”
“You clearly never enrolled in Fashion 101. Or perhaps you didn’t pass.”
“I could learn a thing or two about clothing? I think I’ll take the class.”
“Only wearing one dangly, large, exquisite earring is a classy trend. It says I’m cool and chic.”
“Well that explains why I thought your earring was lost. I claim to be a fashion geek!”
The one earring wonder: No matter if you’re fashion strong, fashion blasé, fashion ambivalent or you just don’t care. Get on the one earring fashion bandwagon…walk around with the one earring flair!
