LET YOUR POPPING LIPS LAP UP THE ATTENTION!

What do you think people notice first when you walk into a room? If your luscious lips are coated in a popping color of lipstick, I guarantee you, the answer is your lips. If you doubt this, watch someone walk into a room wearing bright blue, bright red, bright orange  or bright purple lipstick or lip gloss…you won’t be able to take your eyes off of them.

With so many colors of lipsticks and glosses on the market, the four colors that pop off the charts are: blue, red, orange and purple. Although other colors look glamorous, and help define your mouth, if you truly want your lips to sizzle and pop, go with a neon blue, red, orange or purple.

Lipstick is a cosmetic product containing pigments, oils, waxes, and emollients that apply color, texture and protection to the lips.  Lips are such a visual body part that the brighter the lip, the more you’ll create a look that is trendy and hip.

Lipstick Fun Fact: Ancient Americas oldest manual from the 13th century “The Grolier Codex” shows two Mayan women wearing lipstick. Ancient Sumerian men and women were possibly the first to invent and wear lipstick, about 5,000 years ago. They crushed gemstones and used them to decorate their faces, mainly on the lips and around the eyes.

There’s no denying you’ll create a fashion stir when you give a popping blue, purple, orange or red lip a whirl!

Lip coloring started to gain popularity in 16th-century England. During the time of Queen Elizabeth I, bright red lips and a stark white face became fashionable. At that time, lipsticks were made from a blend of beeswax and red stains from plants. Only upper class women and male actors wore makeup. This makeup lover is glad that changed!

Let your popping lips lap up the attention!

Lipstick Fun Fact: In the 19th century, lipstick was colored with carmine dye. Carmine dye was extracted from cochineal, scale insects native to Mexico and Central America which live on cactus plants. Carminic acid, which forms 17% to 24% of the weight of the dried insects, can be extracted from the insects’ bodies and eggs. Mixed with aluminum or calcium salts, it makes carmine dye (also known as cochineal).

Neon, popping lipstick is the bomb!

Bright, bold color lipsticks are trendy, chic and fun. Although pinks, golds, nude tones, pastels, etc. make for some scrumptious lips, blasting colors that zap your lips always last!

Lips Fun Fact: The upper and lower lips are referred to as the “Labium superius oris” and “Labium inferius oris”. The juncture where the lips meet the surrounding skin of the mouth area is the vermilion border, and the typically reddish area within the borders is called the vermilion zone. The vermilion border of the upper lip is known as the cupid’s bow. The fleshy protuberance located in the center of the upper lip is a tubercle known by various terms including the procheilon, the “tuberculum labii superioris” and the “labial tubercle”.  The vertical groove extending from the procheilon to the nasal septum is called the philtrum.

Who knew one pair of lips were so detailed and involved?

Make a grand entrance with colored lips so grand they pop!

The lips contribute substantially to facial expressions, so you may as well paint up that smile and stay awhile! The lips visibly express emotions such as a smile or frown, iconically by the curve of the lips forming an up-open or down-open parabola. Lips can also be made pouty when whining, or perky to be proactive.

Fashion divas, I wouldn’t give you any lip! Powerful, colorful lips are happening and hip!

Cover your kisser in bright colors of pure blue, red, orange and purple pizzazz!

Throughout the early 20th century, lipstick came in a limited number of shades. Dark red was one of the most popular shades throughout the 19th and 20th century. Dark red lipstick was popular in the 1920s. Flappers wore lipstick to symbolize their independence. Lipstick was worn around the lips to form a “Cupid’s bow”, inspired by Clara Bow. At that time, it was acceptable to apply lipstick in public and during lunch, but never at dinner.

Oh, you painted up lip baby…you’ve come a long, long way! Paint your lips for dinner every day!

Bright, bold, brazen colors of lipstick are here to stay!
