BEGUILING AND BECOMING IN BLOUSES!

Whether fitted loose and plain, or tapered and ruffled, blouses are a popular, stylish and permanent staple of women’s fashion.

A blouse is an upper garment that was formerly worn by workmen, peasants, artists, women and children. A blouse can be gathered at the waist or hips by a waistband or belt so that is hangs loosely over the wearer’s body. Today, the term blouse most commonly refers to a girl’s or woman’s dress shirt. A blouse often times blouses out or has an unmistakably feminine appearance.

Blouse Fun Fact: Blouse is a loanword to English from French: ‘blouse’ means ‘dust coat’. The term was brought back to the English from travels by French Crusaders. The derivation may also be from ‘wool’, ‘blouso’ and ‘short wool’ (Provencal dialect).

Blouses are a popular staple in women’s fashion because they can either dress up an outfit, or taper an outfit down, depending on the cut, style and material of the blouse. A silk ruffled blouse worn with skinny jeans can add a casual flair to the outfit, while a cotton, button-up blouse worn with a pencil skirt can doll up the outfit.

For a feminine, frilly, beautiful blouse with great taste go with a blouse made of ruffles and lace!

Blouses are historically a cask style, mostly mail-like garment, that were rarely part of the fashionable woman’s wardrobe until the 1890s. Before that time, blouses were occasionally popular for informal wear in styles that echoed peasant or traditional clothing, such as the Garibaldi shirt of 1860.

Blouse Fun Fact: Blouses are often made of light fabrics such as silk, satin, lace or thin material. Blouses are sometimes plain and one solid color, but are often decorated with frills, embroidery, gems and loops. The classic of the ladies blouses is the white cotton button-up blouse.

Beguiling and becoming in blouses!

Blouses generally have long straight or fluffy sleeves and a low or V-neckline, although sleeveless, high collar blouses are also trendy in mainstream fashion.

Blouse Fun Fact: Many women’s shirts with buttons usually have the buttons reversed from men’s shirts. Women’s button-up blouses normally have the buttons on the wearer’s left hand and the buttonholes are on the right. While most women prefer to have the top blouse button open for better comfort, some blouses made for women have looser necklines so the top button can be fastened without compromising comfort, while still giving off a stylish appearance.

Blouse Fashion Tip: If you want to gussy up a blouse, why not add a pin or a bedazzled ornament to the blouse? Or, if the blouse has a V-neck or a low collar, a short chain or neck choker can add a world of beauty to your beguiling blouse!

If you really want to light up a room with a fancy, frilly blouse, go red. Enough said! You fierce fashion diva, you!

Blouse Fun Fact: The blouse jacket or blouson is a garment drawn tight at the waist with blousing hanging over the waistband.

Many fashionable blouse styles of both the 1970s and 1980s were on the go again after the millennium in the blouse fashion: double cuffs, extra wide pointed collar, belt around the waist, synthetic fibers and the like. Often the blouses had embroidery, especially on the collar and string. Blouses with the three-quarter arm sleeve were a striking phenomenon of the 1990s.

Nancy Mangano’s Blouse Fashion Tip: Blouses are a fun, smart choice to wear because they go well with blazers, tank tops, sweaters, jeans, slacks, skirts and shorts.

Toward the end of the 20th Century, blouses of extra-long length worn over trousers or skirts, combined with a wide belt around the waist, were popular in Germany, the Netherlands, Belgium, Denmark, Poland, the United Kingdom, Ireland, South Africa and the United States.

Don’t miss out! Jump on the becoming and beautiful blouse bandwagon…trending around the world!

It’s a fashion fact! Blouses give off a better, beautiful, bedazzling look to whatever garments you’ve put together.
